Technology and the Internet are here to stay so the threats will remain until a child reaches adulthood and beyond. Isolation is not a practical strategy but there are steps to take for a parent to protect children. Communication with children about safe surfing habits is a good first step. Parents must stay informed of the activities their children undertake while on the Internet and children should be honest about those activities. Open communication, not interrogation, is the key.
